Home Project Novices Need Extra Planning
We tackled a home project this weekend courtesy of a television home improvement program. It sounded simple and although it really was, they did not point out the importance of safety knives. We were cutting a stamped stainless backsplash in the kitchen and everything worked fine until we began on the edges and cutting around the switchplates and plug covers. Whoa. We had to work fast to find not only a tape slitter to cut through the plastic wrapping but a high quality retractable safety knife. We quickly figured out it had to retract for safety, also it had to be ergonomic so all of us could use it comfortably.
